Almost 240 laid-off workers from General Motors Co.'s Toledo Powertrain Plant have qualified for federal Trade Adjustment Assistance benefits, the Department of Labor announced Wednesday.

Under the program, laid-off workers at least 50 years old or older would qualify for the assistance, which pays up to $12,000 over a two-year period for workers who obtain new employment at wages less than $55,000 and less than their previous wage. The workers also qualify for retraining funding.
