Forum slated in Bryan on landfill expansion

BRYAN — The public can weigh in Tuesday on plans to expand the Williams County landfill.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency said it will hold a 6:30 p.m. meeting in the Bryan Middle School Commons, 1301 Center St., Bryan.

The landfill operator, Republic Services Inc., wants to expand vertically by 2.51 million cubic yards, nearly a 10 percent increase. At the current rate of disposal, that could extend by nearly 11 years the life of the landfill at 11901 County Road G.

Republic also wants an exemption from some state regulations because of the dump's proximity to the aquifer, the Ohio EPA said.

More information is available from the agency's northwest district office in Bowling Green, (419) 352-8461, or the agency's Web site at www.epa.ohio.gov.
