FOSTORIA - The city's interim fire chief was in the Wood County jail Monday charged with domestic violence following a fight with his wife early Saturday.
Brian M. Anderson, 45, has been interim fire chief for nearly two years in Fostoria.
According to the Wood County Sheriff's Office, Mr. Anderson's wife, Amanda Anderson, 33, called sheriff's deputies just after midnight. When an officer arrived, he found her standing in the driveway of the couple's Perry Township home where a pile of clothing was burning.
Mrs. Anderson told deputies she had awoken to find her husband asleep in a chair with a cell phone in his lap that she had never seen. She began reading the text messages on it, and he awoke and yelled that the phone was not his.
She said he tried to get the phone from her, struck her in the face with a closed fist then grabbed her around the throat and stomped on her foot. According to Mrs. Anderson, he then got some of her clothes, carried them to the driveway, doused them with gasoline, and set them on fire.
Mr. Anderson reportedly left the house and Fostoria police later found him and took him to the police station to await a deputy's arrival.
He was to be arraigned Monday afternoon in Fostoria Municipal Court.
