N. Toledo standoff ends as gunman kills self
7/8/2010A standoff at a North Toledo apartment building ended about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday when an armed man who refused to cooperate with police fatally shot himself.
The man, identified as James Pieper, 71, of 311 New York Ave., barricaded himself in his unit earlier in the morning after calling police.
As officers evacuated the building, he shot himself.
