A 17-year-old Toledoan accused of participating in the shooting at a police officer in his vehicle was certified in Lucas County Juvenile Court Friday to stand trial as an adult.

Chad Rabara is charged with attempted aggravated murder. After a hearing before Judge Denise Cubbon, the teenager was certified to stand trial as an adult and was ordered to be transferred to the Lucas County jail.

The teen is one of four people accused of participating in the July 19 incident in South Toledo. Officer George Shaughnessy suffered a minor head wound during the shooting, although it was not determined if the injury was caused by broken glass or if he was grazed by a bullet. The officer was treated and was back at work the next day.

Also charged in juvenile court is Raul Moya, 16, also of Toledo.

In Common Pleas Court, Martin Cheno, 20, of 1715 Parkdale Ave., and Jorge Rojas, 19, of 847 Kingston Ave., are charged with one count each of felonious assault and attempted aggravated murder, each with several gun and gang specifications. If convicted, they face up to 28 years in prison.

The two men are scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 19 before Judge Charles Doneghy.
