Monroe man shot while in friend's yard

MONROE — Monroe police are investigating the shooting of a Monroe man in the 200 block of Almyra Avenue early Tuesday.

The victim, 28, was taken to Mercy Memorial Hospital for a nonlife-threatening wound after the 1:48 a.m. shooting.

Police said the man, whose name was not released, was in the yard of a friend when he was struck by a bullet in his right foot.

It was unknown whether anyone has been charged in the incident.
