East Toledo crash leaves teen in critical condition

A Toledo man was injured early Friday in a crash in East Toledo, authorities said.

Abel Ramirez, 18, of Utah Street was a rear-seat passenger in a convertible vehicle driven by Savannah Lopez, 20, of 529 Arden Place, Toledo police said. He was in critical condition at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

The vehicle was headed west in the 2100 block of Consaul Street near Magyar Street about 1:40 a.m. when it crossed the center line and the eastbound lane, striking two parked cars. The impact threw Mr. Ramirez onto the road, where he ended up under a parked car that was then pushed over him, police said.

Police did not say how fast the vehicle was going and whether the car occupants wore seat belts.

The other passengers in the Lopez vehicle — Alicia Escobedo of Plymouth Street, Marcus Boose of Thurston Street, and Laticia Lopez, whose address was unavailable — were not injured, police said.

No charges had been filed as of Friday night.
