Todd Milner is the new president of Sylvania City Council.

Mr. Milner, council's senior member, now in his eighth year, was elected to the position unanimously by his council colleagues Tuesday night.

"I'm very pleased," Mr. Milner said afterward. "I see this position as a liaison between all the council members, the mayor, and the city administrators, so we're all working together to serve the best interest of our citizens."

Mr. Milner succeeds Keith Haddad, who resigned as council president last month because of his move to Oregon.

The city continues to accept applications from citizens interested in filling Mr. Haddad's vacant seat. The deadline to submit resumes and letters of interest to Margaret Lintner, clerk of council, is 4 p.m. Friday.
