The fate of two FedEx Freight facilities in Toledo remains uncertain after an announcement Friday by the firm it plans to cut 1,700 jobs in an attempt to shore up its money-losing U.S. operations.

Jess Bunn, a spokesman for FedEx Freight in Memphis, said Wednesday no decision has been made regarding which 100 of the carrier's 500 service centers will be closed in January. FedEx Freight, which was started in 2001 and lost $16 million in the last fiscal quarter ending Aug. 31, has 14 centers in Ohio.

In Toledo, FedEx Freight service centers are at 1919 East Manhattan Blvd., and at 5657 Enterprise Blvd. FedEx Freight is a separate entity from FedEx Ground operations, which had revenue of $287 million and last year opened a $92 million hub in Perrysburg Township.
