ARLINGTON, Ohio — Two teens were seriously injured late Wednesday when a pickup truck struck a tree just south of this Hancock County community, trapping them in the wreckage, authorities said.

Robert Wise, 14, the driver, and Kyle Marquart, 16, a passenger in the truck, were cut from the wreckage with the Jaws of Life and taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, according to the county sheriff's office.

The Marquart youth was listed in critical condition Thursday morning and no information was available about the Wise youth, a hospital spokesman said.

The crashed pickup was found off the east side of Township Road 68 south of Road 30 in Madison Township. The victims were not wearing seat belts, sheriff's deputies said.

The driver was cited for driving without a license, failure to control the vehicle, and for not wearing a seat belt, deputies said.

Arlington is about 60 miles south of Toledo.
