Ticket discounts to be suspended by theater chain

Its $6 price for all admissions on Tuesdays and $4.50 price for people 55 and older on Wednesdays will stop Oct. 29 through New Year's Eve.

"Holidays are a busy season and nearly every theater circuit in the country suspends heavily discounted pricing in peak periods," Rave spokesman Jeremy Devine said.

However, he said the suspension will be reviewed at that time, so it is not clear whether the discounts will return.

Rave bought four Toledo-area cinema complexes from National Amusements Inc. in January and closed its 18-screen Maumee complex in July.

It kept theaters at Westfield Franklin Park, Levis Commons, and the Shops at Fallen Timbers.

Among several changes it made this summer was a 50-cent cut in adult ticket prices to $9.75 for shows after 6 p.m.

Rave made a commitment to convert all of its 42 screens in the Toledo area from 35 mm to digital projectors by year's end. The company also took the sole 3-D projector at the Maumee theater and moved it to Fallen Timbers, which had no 3-D capability.
