Using federal grant money, Perrysburg Township police began a traffic enforcement blitz late last week to look for impaired drivers, speeders, and other traffic-law violators — including those who don't buckle their seat belts.

Officers will work extra hours to target Oregon Road, U.S. 20, State Rt. 25, State Rt. 795, State Route 65, and State Rt. 199 through October, township police Lt. Jim Pellek said.

The blitz is financed from the $38,691.24 federal grant the department received Oct. 1 through the State of Ohio Department of Public Safety to pay for overtime through Oct. 1, 2011, Lieutenant Pellek said.
