BOWLING GREEN — A Livonia, Mich., man was flown to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo Wednesday after he caused a four-vehicle crash on northbound I-75, then jumped into the path of a tractor-trailer rig, troopers at the Bowling Green post of the Ohio Highway Patrol said.
Jared N. Charest, 28, drove his car onto the median south of Sugar Ridge Road about 4:15 p.m. as he tried to pass several vehicles, causing the crash. His car continued north for another half-mile and stopped.
He got out of the car and jumped in front of the semi, troopers said.
His condition was not available Wednesday night. Troopers said he did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.
Traffic on I-75 was backed up for several miles for more than 45 minutes, troopers said.
