Loss of truck’s load closes expressway in part of Wood County

GRAND RAPIDS, Ohio — A tractor-trailer rig Thursday afternoon lost a load of coiled steel in a traffic accident on U.S. 24 near this Wood County community, closing the expressway in both directions, authorities said.

There was no word of injuries.

The crash occurred about 1:15 p.m. on U.S. 24, at Ludwig Road, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

The Ohio Department of Transportation District Two has announced a detour via State Rt. 578, State Rt.65, State Rt.110, and State Rt. 109.

Grand Rapids is about 25 miles southwest of Toledo.
