Lucas County’s budget commission has delayed until Dec. 8 a decision on how much funding to give the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department next year.

The health department is seeking a 5 percent funding increase, an amount that has been disputed by Toledo as well as Lucas County’s townships and villages. The increase equals $161,469.30 for a total of $3.39 million from Toledo, Lucas County, and the county’s 22 other municipalities.

Last week, the budget commission delayed its decision and asked both sides to work on a consensus. That decision was to be made Thursday, but more time was given so an agreement could be worked out, said Larry Vasko, the health department’s deputy commissioner.
