TIFFIN -- Seneca County commissioners Thursday opened a second round of bids for construction of a new juvenile detention center.
Portions of the project, including the general construction contract, had to be re-bid after bids came back too high in August. The low bid for general trades this time around was $1,747,000 submitted by Studer-Obringer, Inc. of New Washington, Ohio.
The county is planning to build a 24-bed detention center at a total cost of about $3 million using a $1.8 million grant from the Ohio Department of Youth Services and the balance from local funds.
