Lucas County officials expect to receive $1 million in state funds to employ about 500 youths from low-income families this summer.

County commissioners will announce more about the funds at a news conference Monday afternoon.

The jobs will pay $8 an hour and those ages 16 to 24 will work 25 hours per week from mid-June to mid-August.

Lucas County Department of Job and Family Services and the Lucas County Workforce Development Agency will work with employers to identify potential work sites and administer the program, officials said.
