CUSTAR, Ohio -- A Deshler-area woman died Thursday after her car collided with a freight train at a rural railroad crossing in Milton Township, the Wood County Sheriff's Office reported.

Joanna Naylor, 71, was northbound on Roundhead Road about 8:40 p.m. when she failed to yield to the CSX Transportation train, which was headed southwest, Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn said.

Ms. Naylor was flown to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 9:24 a.m., the sheriff said.

The crossing, which is surrounded by open farm fields, is marked with crossbuck signs, but has no lights or gates.
