FREMONT -- Sandusky County Park District commissioners awarded a nearly $1 million contract Thursday for construction of the county's final leg of the North Coast Inland Exercise Trail.
Mark Haynes Construction of Norwalk, Ohio, submitted the low bid of $990,981 to build the 4.75-mile stretch of trail from Main Street in Clyde to County Road 177 just outside Bellevue. K.F. McCartney and Associates of Mansfield was hired as construction manager at a cost not to exceed $99,000.
More than 90 percent of the trail project, which involves converting an abandoned railroad right-of-way into a paved trail, is paid for with state grants.
