ADDISON, Mich. — An Addison High School graduate has died in Afghanistan while on active Army duty as a nurse, authorities said.

Capt. Bruce Clark, 43, of Spencerport, N.Y., died of unknown causes Monday in Tarin Kowt, according to the Department of Defense.

He was a 1986 graduate of Addison High School, which is in Lenawee County.

Assigned to William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, Captain Clark was deployed with the 566th Air Support Medical Company to Southeast Asia in March, according the defense department. He was previously stationed at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii.

Surviving are his wife and two children.

The circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation, according to medical center officials.

A memorial ceremony will be announced at a later date, officials said.
