The Southeast Michigan Council of Governments has issued its first air-quality alert of the season for today for a seven-county area that includes Monroe County.

The National Weather Service forecast for today in Monroe predicted sunny skies and a high in the low 80s as warm air flows into the region from the southwest. The combination of bright sunshine and light winds will allow ozone levels in the surface air to increase.

An air-quality advisory issued by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment included Lenawee County in its alert.
