Thunderstorms drenched Father’s Day outdoor activities, flooded several streets and underpasses, and brought some relief to area residents with crispy lawns and thirsty gardens.

Some underpasses were awash with hubcab-high water during the storm that swept through Toledo just before 1 p.m. Barricades and high water signs were being requested by police crews. There were scattered reports of trees and power lines downed by the storm’s strong winds.

A weakening cold front is moving into northern Ohio. Thunderstorms are developing along and ahead of the cold front, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers and thunderstorms will become more numerous this afternoon as the cold front makes its way into the area. Some storms are producing locally heavy rain, lightning, and pea-sized hail, the weather service said.
