Board members at United Way of Greater Toledo have begun the search for the organization’s next president and chief executive officer, retaining Toledo-based Waverly Partners, LLC as its executive search firm.

Board vice chair Tom Waggoner is heading a search committee that will work with Waverly to identify qualified candidates, according to United Way.

The agency says it is open to executives with backgrounds in United Way organizations, other kinds of nonprofits, the private sector, or related experience “with a commitment to our goals in education, income, and health in Lucas, Wood, and Ottawa counties.”

Bill Kitson, United Way’s previous president and CEO, resigned in May after seven years at the organization to accept the CEO position with United Way of Greater Cleveland.
