Bedford Twp. ex-clerk running for trustee post

TEMPERANCE -- Former Bedford Township clerk Nancy Tienvieri is a candidate for township trustee. She was clerk for eight years during the 1990s and was deputy clerk to Bev Hammerstrom for eight years before that.

After failing to win re-election in 2000, she became public information officer for the Monroe County Road Commission, a position she held for eight years. Currently she is deputy clerk in Ida Township to Don Appleman.

Mrs. Tienvieri, 63, is one of eight Republicans vying for four trustee seats. The field is to be cut by half in the Aug. 7 party primary.

Mrs. Tienvieri said government has three functions: promoting public safety, maintaining infrastructure, and assisting economic development. She said the township has done a good job with public safety because of the fire and police levies voters approved but that more can be done to hold down the costs of government.

Mrs. Tienvieri and her husband, Bob, live in Lambertville. She is a graduate of Bryan High School, Monroe Community College, and the University of Toledo, where she received a bachelor's degree in elementary education.
