MONROE -- The deadline for filing to run for the Monroe Public Schools board is 4 p.m. Aug. 14.

To appear on the ballot, a candidate must live in the school district, collect 40 to 100 signatures, and pay a fee of $100 to the Monroe County Clerk's Office.

Three school board seats are in play. The four-year terms of David Vensel and Dr. Tedd March expire at the end of the year.

Also to be filled is the seat now held by Aaron Mason, who was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Ron Benore, who resigned in the spring.
