Scott, Stritch begin seasons on winning notes

At Rogers, quarterback Trey Brown ran for two touchdowns as passed for another as the Bulldogs won their season opener Saturday.
Brown ran 11 times for 86 yards and completed 3 of 4 passes for 69 yards, which included a 35-yard touchdown strike in the third quarter to Lakeith Ross, who had three catches for 67 yards. That gave Scott a 14-7 lead after Brown ran for the two-point conversion.
Brown's 1-yard touchdown run gave Scott a first-quarter lead. His 5-yard TD run in the fourth put the Bulldogs up two touchdowns.
Overall, Scott ran for 165 yards on 31 attempts.
Cardinal Stritch 26, Woodward 14
Cardinal Stritch celebrated its first season-opening victory in 23 seasons by scoring 12 points in the fourth quarter to break open a 14-all tie.
Julius Nunez scored three touchdowns (all from 2 yards out) and carried 22 times for 111 yards. Jake Halcomb grabbed a 22-yard pass from Joe Sinay in the fourth quarter for a TD.
For Woodward, Anthony Bell hit Quinshaun Sisson with a 15-yard scoring pass, and Mordecai Brownlee ran four yards for the other TD. Brownlee carried 14 times for 99 yards.
