Assessment rolls for Bedford Twp. road work OK'd
8/27/2012The Bedford Township Board has approved the roll for a road improvement special assessment district for the Enchanted Forest subdivision.
The subdivision roll contains 87 parcels, of which 59 percent of owners signed the petition in favor of the road improvements. The estimated cost of the project is $890,254.96.
The board also agreed to pay a higher price for repairs on Summerfield Road between Monroe Street and Secor Road.
The original cost to the township of the contract with the Monroe County Road Commission was $35,300. Bids came in higher than expected, however, and the total cost of the project will be $259,200, an increase of $23,700 over the original estimate.
The road commission agreed to absorb $15,600 of the additional cost and asked the township to pay the remainder, or $8,100. This brings the township's total cost to $43,400.
"We're getting a lot of bang for our dollars," Trustee Larry O'Dell said.
