Dems name Irish to elections board

9/13/2012

The executive committee of the Lucas County Democratic Party on Wednesday approved the selection of party stalwart John Irish to be a member of the county Board of Elections.

Mr. Irish, a former party chairman, was nominated for the post by Ron Rothenbuhler, current party chairman who also is chairman of the Board of Elections. No one else was nominated, and all of the 60 or so committee members present endorsed Mr. Irish's selection, Mr. Rothenbuhler said.

The choice is subject to confirmation by Ohio Secretary of State John Husted.

Mr. Irish would fill the vacancy created when Keila Cosme, a lawyer and former appellate judge, stepped aside to take an administrative job in county government.
