Fayette, McClure win development grants

Two northwest Ohio communities have been awarded grants from the Ohio Department of Development to make infrastructure improvements.

The village of Fayette in Fulton County is to receive $600,000 to install 46,671 linear feet of sewer line as part of a $7.4 million sewer separation project that should benefit 497 households.

The Henry County village of McClure was awarded $500,000 to connect the village to the county’s wastewater system -- a $2.3 million project that is to benefit 345 households.

Also, the development department awarded $260,000 from its Community Development Block Grant Economic Development Loan and Public Infrastructure Grant Program to the city of Findlay in Hancock County for Beer Barrel Inc. to purchase equipment for a new location in Findlay. The project is expected to create 60 jobs, 42 of which are designated for low- to moderate-income individuals.

The city of Maumee also was awarded $200,000 from the CDBG Discretionary Program to rehabilitate the Art Crest Building in uptown Maumee for an arts and crafts studio run by Sunshine Inc. of Northwest Ohio. The project is to benefit 20 disabled adults.
