Ex-chief guilty of disorderly conduct
Former Put-in-Bay Police Chief Ric Lampela’s conduct didn’t reach the level of menacing, much less aggravated menacing, when he pointed a gun at one of the department’s officers five years ago during a quiz about the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment, a judge ruled Thursday. But visiting Judge James Hoover found Mr. Lampela guilty in Ottawa County Municipal Court of disorderly conduct for “recklessly” creating what the judge described as “a very scary situation.”
