WAUSEON — Rick McCoy, director of the Van Wert Emergency Management Agency, will be the featured speaker at a Weather Observer and Storm Spotter Training session next week sponsored by the Fulton County EMA.

Mr. McCoy, the Van Wert agency’s director for 22 years, has been featured on Forecast Earth and Storm Stories on The Weather Channel and was the first person in the United States to receive the National Storm Ready Heroes Award from the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Weather observation and storm spotting skills are particularly useful to farmers, bus and truck drivers, first responders, outdoor athletes, school and elected officials, recreation directors, public works staff, and utility workers, according to a Fulton EMA statement.

The April 4 program will start at 6:30 p.m. in the second-floor conference room at 152 S. Fulton St., Wauseon, and is expected to run for 90 minutes. Register by contacting the Fulton EMA at 419-337-9207, Ext. 341, or by email to ema@fultoncountyoh.com.
