Sylvania Township’s road signs will be upgraded with reflective material as part of Ohio’s Township Sign Safety Program.

Sylvania Township received a $24,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Transportation to install the signs and upgrade current signs at intersections and curbs. Speed and curb-advisory signs, and stop, yield, and children-playing signs will have reflective material put on the plaque and its post. Outdated signs will be replaced with ones consistent with Ohio’s traffic-control-device requirements. To increase visibility, road signs will be installed according to plaque height and location requirements in relation to street curbs and shoulders.

The total cost is $30,000. Sylvania Township will cover the remaining $6,000.

Sylvania Township Public Works Manager Gregory Huffman said that traffic would not be interrupted by the sign upgrades, which are to begin in June and set to end in September.
