YPSILANTI, Mich. — A private investigation firm is offering a reward for information that would help apprehend those responsible for the drowning death of an Eastern Michigan University student in December, authorities said Thursday.

Duvall Group Investigations has issued a flyer that offers $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those responsible for the death of Julia Niswender, 23, a 2008 Monroe High School graduate who was a junior in the university's communications department, Ypsilanti police said.

The victim was found dead in a bathtub at her off-campus apartment on Huron River Drive about 9:30 p.m. Dec. 11, after family and friends reported not having heard from her in several days. The cause of death was asphyxiation from drowning and the death was ruled a homicide.

Anyone with information is asked to call Ypsilanti police at 734-483-9510 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-773-2587.
