Cinco de Mayo comes early this year at BGSU

4/26/2013

Bowling Green State University will celebrate Cinco de Mayo early this year — 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Mileti Alumni Center.

The event will feature live music and dance performances, food and plenty of games and activities for children all of ages. The public is invited to the free event.

Cinco de Mayo is traditionally recognized on May 5, which is the anniversary of a victory in 1862 in Mexico’s fight for independence from France.

The university’s 21st Annual Cinco de Mayo celebration is held early because students begin final exams on Monday and their semester ends May 3.
