A downed wire temporarily closed U.S. 23 in both directions just over the state line about 12:50 p.m. today but it reopened about 40 minutes later, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
It was unclear what caused the live wire to fall, a sheriff's dispatcher said.
The downed wire possibly started a grass fire reported in the area about the same time, the dispatcher said.
The incident was under investigation.
