The winners are Suka and Sakari.

Those are the names that were selected for the Toledo Zoo's twin polar bear cubs, after more than 3,000 entries were submitted, zoo officials said today.

The zoo held a contest, sponsored by 13abc, The Blade, and Cumulus Toledo, to determine the names. The name Suka, given to the female cub, won by more than 400 votes and Sakari, the name given to the male cub, won by more than 750 votes. Entries were submitted online, in person, and through a mail-in ballot.

Two random winners were drawn from the numerous contest entries. Brenda Osbourne and Evan Wilt, both of Maumee, both won a one-year zoo family membership, enrollment in the zoo's PAL animal adoption program, and a basket of gifts with a polar bear theme.

Suka and Sakari will be on display starting Friday in the zoo's Arctic Encounter exhibit. Both are scheduled to be on exhibit daily from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
