BLADE STAFF

For the 20th consecutive year, Sylvania Community Action Team will host the annual 24-Hour Relay Challenge race Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. at Timberstone Junior High School.

This year’s challenge will begin with a tribute to the runners of the Boston Marathon and those affected by the bombing.

The relay challenge promotes the mission of SCAT to help children live a drug and alcohol-free life and make positive decisions. Children in Sylvania and the Toledo area from sixth to 12th grade are invited.

Teams of 10 will take turns running laps for 24 hours on the track, each trying to accumulate 50 to 100 miles for their team. Tents will be set up outdoors for sleeping. The children are supervised by parents throughout the night, and the Sylvania Township Fire Department stands by in case of any injuries.

For more information, call Deb Chany at 419-824-8588 or visit sylvaniascat.org. Cost is $45 per person. Food and drinks are provided. The race begins and ends at Timberstone Junior High School, 9000 Sylvania Ave.
