Bridge repairs will close Sylvania Avenue just west of Corey Road for two weeks, starting June 3, the Lucas County Engineer's Office announced Friday.

Although Sylvania will be open between Corey and Talmadge roads, detours will direct motorists south at Talmadge Road and at Holland-Sylvania Road to Central Avenue in both directions.

Sylvania has four lanes across the bridge, but county officials decided to do the repairs with a closing rather than lane restrictions to save $100,000 and get the work done in 14 days instead of 40. Repaving also is planned between Holland-Sylvania and the Corey/ Whiteford intersection during the shutdown.
