Toledo Community Foundation gives $184,000 to nonprofit groups
6/2/2013The Toledo Community Foundation Board of Trustees recently approved $184,179 in grants from its community funds to eight area nonprofit organizations.
Catholic Charities, the Diocese of Toledo Inc., was awarded $61,792 for the Family Stability Guidance Program. The program offers education and emergency assistance to families experiencing hardships.
The Catholic Club will receive $10,000 for the 2013 Summer Presidential Fitness Club. The Padua Center of the Diocese of Toledo was awarded $7,717 for its summer math tutoring program.
Double ARC was awarded $25,000 to use for the Project Succeed program, which works with children with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders and their families.
The Frederick Douglass Community Association will receive $8,520 for community-based educational services.
Water for Ishmael was awarded $4,125 to help support quality child-care programming. Toledo Botanical Garden will receive $43,625 to use for educational outreach, natural preservation programs, and water conservation programs.
The Great Lakes Center for Autism will receive $23,400 to help with programs to support life skills for children with autism spectrum disorders.
Community foundation grants are considered by the board of trustees twice each year and are awarded to charitable, nonprofit organizations.
