Kynard 2nd at NCAA meet

EUGENE, Ore. — Kansas State senior Erik Kynard, a Rogers graduate, closed out a stellar college career on Friday with a second-place finish in the high jump at the NCAA championships.

Kynard, the 2012 Olympic Silver medalist, lost to Indiana's Derek Drouin, who won an Olympic bronze medal for Canada.

The two-time defending champion Kynard jumped 2.31 meters (7 feet, 7 inches). Drouin jumped 2.34 meters (7-8).

Kynard was attempting to become the first three-time NCAA outdoor high jump champion since 1946.
