3 directors, president named to Toledo Zoo

The Toledo Zoo welcomed three new directors to its board at its annual meeting Monday. They are Anthony Brownie, Lawrence Burns, and William McDonnell. 

Mr. Brownie brings more than 35 years’ zoological expertise with the Wildlife Conservation Society in New York Mr. Brownie joins the board as a non-voting member.

Mr. Burns is vice president of external affairs for the University of Toledo, providing strategic leadership for the University’s enrollment efforts, marketing and communications, web development, and diversity and entrepreneurial activities.

Mr. McDonnell is the Toledo regional president of PNC Bank, managing the company’s Toledo-area business strategy and community investments, along with its corporate and commercial banking activities.

The board also elected Mary Ellen Pisanelli to serve as president, Lamont Thurston as vice president, Pam Hershberger as treasurer and John Jones as secretary. Each has been elected to serve a one-year term in office.

The remaining members of the board are Matt Anderson, Susan Allan Block, Peter Boyer, Elaine Canning, Jim Haudan, Sandra Hylant, Timothy Konieczny, John Meier, Jonathan Orser, Clarence Smith, Barbara Steele, Olivia Summons and Bob Vasquez. Lucas County Commissioner Carol Contrada is a non-voting member.
