Brief storm damages Defiance County

NEY, Ohio — A fierce brief storm damaged buildings Saturday afternoon in Defiance County's Washington Township.

Sheriff's deputies received reports that a funnel cloud was sighted near Ney. Corn in a field was flattened in a rotational pattern, reported WTVG-TV, Channel 13, The Blade's media partner.

During a thunderstorm about 4:35 p.m. north of Ney, trees were toppled; a steel roof was blown from a barn; a house lost part of its roof, and a garage was leveled, a local emergency manager reported to the National Weather Service office in northern Indiana.

In Napoleon, more than 2 inches of rain was reported through 7:30 p.m. in Napoleon, the weather service said.

In Erie County, storms between 7:15-7:30 pm.. brought down limbs and, near Milan, Ohio, even a large tree.

There were no reports of injury.

Ney is about 50 miles southwest of Toledo. Napoleon is about  40 miles southwest of Toledo. Milan is about 60 miles east of Toledo
