Legion sells hall for $120,000

FOSTORIA — An American Legion hall on the south side of Fostoria sold at auction Tuesday for $120,000.

The Earl Foust Post 73 hall was auctioned along with its furnishings and equipment. Legion members decided to sell the 12,000-square-foot clubhouse, opened in 1996, to pay off debts, including back taxes.

Commander Jim Nusser said the high bidder was a local electrical contractor who indicated an interest in using the building for Frankart Electric. A representative for the company could not be reached for comment Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. Nusser said more than 300 people showed up for the auction, and three people bid on the building, which the legion initially listed for sale for about $625,000 before dropping the price.
