Two weak tornadoes touched down in eastern Sandusky and eastern Seneca counties during severe thunderstorms, the National Weather Service has confirmed.

One of the tornadoes formed along Flat Rock Road near Kilbourne Street in southwestern Bellevue, Ohio, and caused mostly treetop and roof damage along a path 0.9 mile long. The twister was graded at EF0, the lowest rating on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, with a path up to 50 yards wide and top wind speed estimated at 75 mph.

The other, slightly stronger, originated in Reed Township and traveled more than 10 miles into Huron County, the weather service office in Cleveland said. Its winds, estimated as high as 90 mph, mainly caused tree damage but also damaged some barns and houses.

Significant damage from straight-line winds also was identified in both areas, according to the report.
