Northbound I-475/U.S. 23 was closed for about 40 minutes early today in Maumee following a two-vehicle collision that sent one motorist to a hospital, the Ohio Highway Patrol reported.

Eric Wood, 23, of Bridgeport, Mich., was northbound in a pickup about 12:55 p.m. between the U.S. 24 and Salisbury Road interchanges when his truck went off the right side of the highway, striking a disabled, unoccupied minivan. One of the vehicles reportedly caught on fire.

There was no indication of why he drove off the road, but also no indication of impairment, Sgt. Brian Foltz of the Toledo post said. Mr. Wood wore a seat belt.

One lane of traffic reopened about 1:40 p.m. and the second lane was restored about 3 p.m., troopers said.
