MONROE — A section of Telegraph Road, also known as U.S. 24, that has been closed on the city’s north side since last week will reopen today, five days ahead of schedule, the Michigan Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

The culvert replacement at Little Sandy Creek is part of an MDOT project to widen Telegraph between Stewart and Hurd roads.

Traffic will be shifted today to the newly built eastern half of the roadway while the western half is rebuilt, MDOT said.

One lane of traffic each way is to be maintained until the mid-autumn finish.
