About 84 Toledo Edison customers in Ottawa Hills lost power shortly after noon today when a falling tree branch fell on wires and damaged a pole on Edgevale Road, authorities said.

Toledo firefighters were called to the scene in the 3500 block of Edgevale at 12:18 p.m. and arrived seven minutes later because of sparking and smoking wires, Ottawa Hills police said.

Toledo Edison crews have since arrived to start repairs, but the work is likely to take at least six hours to complete, Edison spokesman Hans Rosebrock said.
