The Lucas County Early Vote Center opened Tuesday in Summit Plaza, 1500 N. Superior St.

The center, which is operated by the county board of elections, will be open Monday through Friday until the Friday before the Sept. 10 primary election.

Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day except Tuesday, when the center is open 8:30 am. to 6:30 p.m., and 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 6, the final day of early voting, said Dan DeAngelis, the board’s deputy director.

“We are not open on weekends,” he said. “We also will be closed Monday, Sept. 2, in observance of Labor Day.”

Voters who live in Maumee and Toledo will decide municipal candidates in the nonpartisan election.

Toledo voters will pare the field of 17 at-large council candidates to 12 and the eight mayoral hopefuls — including one write-in candidate — to two for the Nov. 5 general election.

In Maumee, voters will eliminate one of nine council candidates and a local liquor option in Precinct 8 will be decided.
