Fired Fremont official gets Gibsonburg post

9/7/2013

GIBSONBURG, Ohio — A former Fremont safety-service director who pleaded guilty to a dereliction of duty misdemeanor charge earlier this year is the new Gibsonburg village administrator.

The village council Thursday unanimously voted to hire Marc Glotzbecker, who started on Friday. His annual salary is $57,250.

Mr. Glotzbecker was one of six finalists out of about 20 applicants for the job, created by the departure this summer of Administrator Dave Johnson, said village Fiscal Officer Robert Schroeder.

Mr. Glotzbecker was sentenced in Sandusky County Common Pleas Court to two years probation and fines after he was accused of stealing Cedar Point tickets and taking $339 from the city. He had faced two felony counts of theft in office prior to a plea agreement. He was fired in October, 2012.

Mr. Schroeder, who does not vote on hiring decisions, said Mr. Glotzbecker’s legal history was discussed during the interview process.
