The Lucas County Soil and Water Conservation District is opening a satellite office in One Government Center, where its sustainability commission will be available two days a week.

Melissa Green, the district's sustainability conservationist, will work from the eighth floor office with city and county officials to coordinate activities and procedures that may lead to public policy.

“Many times, decisions are made that only focus on the initial bottom line,” said Tina Skeldon Woznik, Lucas County commissioner. “We know that in many of these instances, sustainability factors could lead to a different outcome, that in the end would save more money.”
